OFFICE BEARERS
The Office Bearers of the Chamber of Marine Industries of Sri Lanka (CMISL) are responsible for providing strategic leadership and ensuring the effective governance of the Chamber. Mr. Indhra Kaushal Rajapaksa is a respected business leader with extensive experience in the marine, manufacturing, and industrial sectors. As the Chairman of CMISL, he provides strategic direction for the development of Sri Lanka’s marine and boating industry, fostering collaboration between government, private sector, and international partners. Under his leadership, CMISL continues to drive initiatives aimed at promoting local boatbuilding, enhancing export potential, and strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a regional maritime hub.

Mr. Adityavikram More serves as the Secretary of CMISL, contributing to the Chamber’s strategic and administrative functions. With his extensive experience in the marine and export sectors, he plays a key role in strengthening industry coordination, promoting member engagement, and supporting initiatives that advance Sri Lanka’s boatbuilding and maritime industries.
Mr. Akalanka Rathnayake

Mr. Akalanka Rathnayake serves as the Treasurer of CMISL, overseeing the Chamber’s financial management and reporting functions. His responsibilities include presenting monthly financial statements, coordinating with banks and accounting personnel to ensure accurate record-keeping, and supervising the auditing and taxation processes to maintain transparency and accountability in all financial operations.

Dr. Sarath Obesekara

Dr. Sarath Obesekara serves as a Senior Advisor to CMISL, offering strategic direction and technical expertise to advance the Chamber’s objectives. With his vast experience in the marine and boatbuilding sectors, he plays a key role in guiding industry development, policy advocacy, and the promotion of Sri Lanka’s maritime capabilities on both national and international platforms.

Portfolio: Development of the Shipping Industry Sector
Responsible for the overall development of the shipping industry, including shipbuilding, ship repair, and logistics-related activities, as well as promoting local and foreign investment in the sector. Also oversees all legal and regulatory matters pertaining to CMISL, resolution of industry issues, and the overall legal framework governing the industry.

Managing Director – Dhanusha Marine Group
Portfolio: Development of Boat Manufacturing Technology & Membership Development
Oversees infrastructure development and addresses issues related to the boat manufacturing sector. Also leads initiatives to promote technological advancement in boatbuilding and strengthen CMISL’s membership base through active engagement and outreach.
Mr. Sharzan Perera

Portfolio: Events and Industry Promotion
Responsible for organizing CMISL events including boat shows, regattas, sports activities, conferences, and other water-based events aimed at promoting Sri Lanka’s marine and boating industry.
Mr. Isuru Gunathilake

Portfolio: Sports and Marine Recreation
Leads the development and coordination of CMISL’s Sports Arm, covering power boating, diving, and other water sports activities that promote marine recreation and tourism.
Professor Turney Pradeep
Director General – Coast Conservation
Portfolio: Environmental Initiatives
Responsible for promoting sustainable marine practices through webinars, seminars, and environmental projects including mangrove development, coral planting, and collaboration with international conservation agencies.
Mr. Rickey’s Barnet
Director – Group Business Development, GAC Shipping
Portfolio: Offshore Services & Industries, and International Collaborations & Social Media
Oversees CMISL’s offshore services and industrial relations, manages collaborations with international bodies including ICOMIA, and handles the Chamber’s digital communications and social media presence.

Senior Operations Manager – Sail Lanka Charter (Pvt) Ltd
Portfolio: Promotion of Nautical Tourism
Focuses on promoting boating and yachting as lifestyle and tourism activities. Ensures CMISL’s involvement in policy discussions and initiatives that support the sustainable growth of nautical tourism in Sri Lanka.

Assistant General Manager (Projects Development) – Colombo Dockyard PLC
Portfolio: Training & Capacity Building
Leads the development of CMISL’s Training Arm, focusing on conducting webinars, seminars, and other capacity-building programs aimed at enhancing professional skills within the marine industry. Also responsible for initiatives that promote Chamber membership through knowledge-sharing and industry engagement.

Portfolio: Mini Marinas, Boat/Yacht Certification & Harbor Development
Oversees initiatives related to the development of mini marinas and harbors, and the certification of boats and yachts in line with international standards. Also coordinates nautical tourism development, harbor infrastructure enhancement, and the organization of CSR projects supporting the marine community.

Portfolio: Regulatory Framework & Policy Development
Oversees initiatives related to the development of mini marinas and harbors, and the certification of boats and yachts in line with international standards. Also coordinates nautical tourism development, harbor infrastructure enhancement, and the organization of CSR projects supporting the marine community.

Portfolio: Development of Diving-Related Activities
Leads the development of diving-related initiatives across Sri Lanka, including establishing platforms for professional diving, shipwreck exploration, and training. Works to strengthen overseas collaborations with leading international diving organizations and promote Sri Lanka as a regional diving hub.
